Cleaning Maintenance of Stainless Steel Pans

Cleaning Maintenance of Stainless Steel Pans:

  • For safest cleaning soap and warm water should remove most build up from the drip pans.
  • For tougher stains stronger cleaners or chemicals may be used. A more abrasive cleaner can be used on the stainless drip pans.
  • The cleaning procedure for maintenance of a drain pan will be the same with the exception of the drain itself. The drain apparatus will need to be taken out, disassembled and cleaned separately using the manufacturer’s instructions. Soap and water on the fitting seals and non-abrasive cleaners on PVC and galvanized parts.
Cleaning Maintenance of Galvanized Steel and Aluminum Metal Pans

Cleaning Maintenance of Galvanized Steel and Aluminum Metal Pans:

  • For maintenance safest cleaning soap and warm water should remove most build up from the drip pans.
  • For tougher build up and residue, use detergent or non-abrasive cleaners or components for both Galvanized and Aluminum drip pans.
  • To remove corner oxidation in galvanized pans, scrub off the oxidation with a brush, then re-coat the corner with zinc paint. This would also be the process for pans with handles and casters, cleaning around the handles/casters then re-coating the area with zinc paint.
  • The cleaning procedure for a drain pan will be the same with the exception of the drain itself. The drain apparatus will need to be taken out, disassembled and cleaned separately using the manufacturer’s instructions. Soap and water on the fitting seals and non-abrasive cleaners on PVC and Plastic etc.
Care and Handling Guidelines for Maintenance of Drip Pans

Care and Handling Guidelines for Maintenance of Drip Pans:

  • When handling pans support longer sides of the pans at the center when loaded, lifted or carrying.
  • When lifting large pans, be sure to provide extra support to the center of the pan when loading/unloading.
  • Storage Maintenance - when storing it is best practice not to rest the drip pan on one side. It is possible that over time gravity may cause the pan to bend.
  • When hanging a drip or drain pan, hang from multiple points of contact to best support the sides and base of the pan. Hanging from contacts near the corners is best practice.
  • To prevent galvanic corrosion use coated or non-metallic hooks or hangers.
  • Refrain from stacking anything on or in drip/drain pans and more importantly on the walls of the pans. This applies for pans both in use and storage.
